Forget Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V! Windows 11’s AI Keyboard Automates Your Tasks Like Magic

Forget Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V! Windows 11's AI Keyboard Automates Your Tasks Like Magic

Microsoft unveiled the biggest alteration to its keyboards in three decades when it announced an AI keyboard.

This key will enable users to get Copilot, an AI tool by Microsoft, on fresh Windows 11 PCs.

Copilot’s AI capabilities are powered by OpenAI in which Microsoft is one of the large investors.

2023 saw it incorporate AI into other products like Microsoft 365 and Bing search.

Competitor Apple had incorporated a Siri button or feature in the Macbooks for several years.

Copilot assists users with functions such as searching, composing emails and image creation.

As a blog announcing the shift, Microsoft executive vice president Yusuf Mehdi said it was transformative and likened to the addition of Windows key nearly 30 years ago.

He said it would “simplify” and “amplify” the user experience.

New keyboards should be in new product from February.

Some of the products with Copilot key will feature at CES tech event next week, in effect from January 9 th to November Las Vegas by Microsoft.

When Copilot was built in to Office 365 products like Word, PowerPoint and Teams, it could sum up meetings, write emails and design presentations.

It has also been included in search engine Bing.

“It is a very natural step”, said Prof John Tucker, computer scientist at Swansea University and founder of its History of Computing Collection.

He notes that while Windows 11 users can currently get to Copilot by tapping the windows key + C, it is another shortcut “that shows what this company believes in terms of value and potential for attracting and keeping its many products around”.

But he delivered: “Of course, that the keyboard has modified so little in 30 years – when you consider that 1994 – isn’t some thing to be pleased with.”

Google, by a long way the world’s biggest search engine, has its own AI gadget referred to as Bard.

However, it become Microsoft’s partner OpenAI that delivered its powerful AI tool ChatGPT in 2022 which induced competitors to scramble to launch their personal versions.

Copilot is primarily based on OpenAI’s GPT-4 massive language model.

The UK’s opposition watchdog is asking into Microsoft’s dating with OpenAI after boardroom chaos resulted in a near relationship between the 2 firms.
