FNaF movie: Can Five Nights at Freddy’s live up to the hype?
The frightening season has arrived, it’s Friday the 13th, and one frightful film is predicted to rule the Halloween box office.
The much-anticipated film adaptation of the cherished horror game series is called Five Nights at Freddy’s, or FNaF for short.

“I get sporadic emails saying ‘wouldn’t it be cool if you just sent me a copy of that movie right now?’,” says Jason, CEO of the horror film firm Blumhouse.
Fans have been dissecting minute parts of the plot since the film’s first trailer debuted online in May.
Josh Hutcherson, who starred in the Hunger Games, plays Mike Schmidt, a jobless man who decides to work as a night guard at a closed restaurant.
However, he has company at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza in the form of a group of lifelike animatronic monsters, in contrast to the diner.
Not all of the responses have been favorable.
Characters’ red eyes were criticized for being different from those in the game, and there were issues with the game’s PG-13 certification in the US even though it has a 15 certificate in the UK.

“I’ve really trusted implicitly the guidance of Scott in terms of what liberties we take, timelines we blend or characters we pull from,” she continues.
Jason acknowledges that Scott Cawthon was deeply involved in the making of the film and is very protective of it.
“It was interesting, and obviously super-challenging to work with someone who was so intimately familiar with the game because he created it,” Jason adds.
Jason explains that it “took that amount of time for both of us to figure each other out” as to why it took over ten years to get FNaF into theaters.
“Our relationship really evolved over all the time that we’ve been talking about the movie,” he claims.
It appears that some devoted FNaF fans have formed opinions about the movie based on Reddit threads, YouTube, and TikTok videos.
Ash says to Newsbeat that she can comprehend.
“There’s definitely going to be a crowd of people who are protective of their game and of this franchise, this has meant a lot to a lot of people for a long time,” she continues.
“As a result, I believe there will inevitably be a segment of people who wish to preserve and guard that for themselves.
“But I also think there’s a much wider portion of people who love it so much that they want to share it with everyone else as well.”
And Ash says she’s eager for FNaF, which debuts on October 25, to shine a spotlight on a spooky film.
“I love seeing a bunch of horror nerds come together and be like: ‘Oh my god, this is our thing, we’re gonna see all of our theories and ideas come together on screen’,” she explains.
“I think it’s really exciting that it’s come to a new format, and it’s going to be super accessible, and also really just exciting for the people that have put years of their lives into figuring out exactly what is going on with Freddy.”
